Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
This policy explains what the Predator Locator app and this website do with information. The short version: there is no account, we do not ask for your name or email, and we do not sell data.
Contents
1. What we collect
The app collects only what it needs to work:
- Approximate or precise location, if you grant permission, and only while the app is open. It is used to fetch registry entries near you.
- Map areas and names you search, sent to our servers as coordinates or a search term so we can return matching public records.
- Subscription status, so the app knows whether paid features are unlocked. Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details.
- Basic technical data that any internet request includes, such as IP address, app version, device model and operating system version, plus crash and error diagnostics.
None of this is tied to a name, email address or account, because the app does not have accounts.
2. Location
Location is requested as "when in use" only. The app does not track you in the background and does not build a history of where you have been.
When you open the map, your coordinates are sent to our servers to query the registry for that area, and are used to answer that request. We do not store your location history or associate locations with you over time. You can decline the permission and still use the app by moving the map or searching by name, and you can change or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Location Services.
3. What we do not collect
- No account, name, email address, phone number or password.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, camera or health data.
- No advertising identifier (IDFA), and no app tracking request.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no data brokerage. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are used in U.S. state privacy laws.
4. How information is used
We use the information above only to:
- return registry records for the area or name you asked about;
- deliver, maintain and secure the Service;
- verify and restore subscription entitlements;
- diagnose crashes and fix problems;
- comply with law and respond to valid legal requests, and to prevent abuse or misuse of the Service.
We do not use your information to profile you, advertise to you, or train models.
5. Third parties
We keep these to a minimum. The following process limited data on our behalf or as independent providers:
- Apple for app distribution, in-app purchases and subscription receipts, and for Apple Maps, which renders the map and handles map tile requests under Apple's privacy policy.
- Superwall for paywall presentation and subscription state, which receives a random app-generated identifier and subscription and device metadata, not your identity.
- Our hosting and content delivery providers, which process requests to our registry API and this website, including IP addresses in server logs.
We do not authorise any of them to use the data for their own advertising purposes.
6. This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers. Our web server keeps standard access logs, including IP address, request path, timestamp and user agent, for security and troubleshooting, for a short period.
7. Retention
Location and search queries are used to answer the request and are not retained in a form that identifies you. Server and diagnostic logs are kept for a limited period, normally no more than 90 days, then deleted or aggregated. Subscription records are retained as long as needed for entitlement, accounting and tax purposes.
Because there is no account, there is no stored profile to delete. To remove all app data from your device, delete the app.
8. Children
The Service is intended for adults and is rated for users 17 and older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, reach us through the support channel on our App Store listing and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, to opt out of its sale or share, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. Because the app has no account and we do not build user profiles, we often hold no information that can be linked to you. Where we can identify relevant data, we will act on a request under applicable law. Submit a request through the support channel on our App Store listing and we will respond within the period the law requires, normally 30 days.
10. Registry records
The records shown in the app are public records published by government agencies. We are not the source of those records and cannot amend them. If you are a registrant and believe your record is inaccurate, contact the agency that publishes it; corrections made there flow through to the app. You may also raise it through the support channel on our App Store listing and we will look into how the record is being displayed.
11. Security
Traffic between the app, this website and our servers is encrypted in transit with TLS. Access to systems is limited to what is needed to run the Service. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always at predatorlocator.com/privacy with a "last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected there before they take effect.
